SWEET DELCIOUS FOODS AND DESERTS ARE PART OF A HEATLHY THYROID GLAND FRIENDLY DIET.
For years I ate a boring diet simply because I wanted to stay lean. I had never dreamed in my wildest imagination that it was even possible to eat chocolate or ice-cream. I included these foods regularly and sometimes even daily and I still achieved results. I lost weight, improved my health and I looked great. This was all the result of a remarkable discovery of unlocking the research of Dr Ray Peat.
At ProComp Sweet delicious foods and desserts as used as part of healthy thyroid gland diet at ProComp. Our experience concludes that when calories are managed these “forbidden delights” often stay in a daily nutrition plan whilst our clients are dropping weight.
ProComp coaches strongly promote thyroid gland friendly sweets for bikini, sports model and beach model nutrition plans. They are generally written into all of ProComp’s meal plan programs.
Foods such as chocolate and fruit are very therapeutic and help boost thyroid gland functioning in a number of ways. The healthier our thyroid gland is functioning, the faster we burn fat and the healthier we will be.
It’s quite unbelievable but today, the ProComp coaches work with clients who are fearful of fruit and cheese and chocolate!!!!! Can you believe that they have been told it will make them diabetic or fat!!!!
Anecdotally, research has concluded that fruit actually protects against diabetes and increases the conversion of T4 to T3. This is instrumental in speeding up metabolism.
Contrary to this, avoiding carbs is known to downregulate metabolic rate. This was a topic of discussion in a ProComp blog a few days ago.
DESSERTS AND SIMPLE SUGARS such as fruit, raw honey and quality chocolate are actually pro-thyroid gland and are BENEFICIAL FOR YOUR BODY. Because simple sugars suppress the bodys stress response.
The stress response or the release of cortisol downregulates thyroid gland health and leads to decreased fat burning.

Here is one of my favorites desert choices and why it is a favourite.
BAKED APPLES, CREAM AND CHOCOLATE.
All of these ingredients are therapeutic, pro-metabolic and healthy and can be found in the ProComp Metabolic meal plans. They are also used in our bikini model diets and fitness models diets and even for our bodybuilders and its all based upon the research of Dr Ray Peat. As Ive said before Pro-Metabolic nutrition is NOT just for athletes. its for anyone who wants an easier way to lose weight without destroying metabolism.
- 1 apple
- 1 tbs butter
- ½ cup unprocessed additive free apple juice
- pinch of cinnamon
- drizzle of lemon juice
- 1 date chopped
- quality chocolate
- quality cream
- tbs hydrostate gelatin
- Core apple from top – do not puncture bottom.
- Simmer apple juice in a saucepan until it has reduced to approximately 1-2 tablespoons.
- Add butter, gelatin, cinnamon and lemon juice to the saucepan. Melt, stir and remove all ingredients.
- Stir chopped dates and half of the chocolate into melted butter mixture and pour into the centre of the apple. Pour remaining ½ of the apple juice into the bottom of baking pan.
- Cook the apple in pan at 350degrees for 45-60min until it is soft.
- Add one dollop of cream.
- Melt the remaining chocolate over the entire apple and cream.
WHAT I LOVE ABOUT THESE INGREDIENTS
APPLE – A lot has been written about fruit and there is no need to repeat it here. Well-cooked apples are easy to digest and will provide glycogen for the liver to use in thyroid conversion.
BUTTER – Butter is rich in butyric-acid and helps increase thyroid hormone cell receptors.
½ CUP UNPROCESSED ADDITIVE FREE APPLE JUICE
PINCH OF CINNAMON
DRIZZLE OF LEMON JUICE
DATES – Cooked dates are very safe forms of fruit that can help regulate blood sugar and improve glycogen storage in the liver. This is important for the conversion of T4 into the active T3 thyroid hormone your cells need.
QUALITY CHOCOLATE – Chocolate is metabolically stimulating and rich in copper that has many therapeutic effects.
Its highly saturated fat helps protect against thyroid gland suppressive polyunsaturated fatty acids.
Chocolate contains caffeine. Caffeine has been shown to have actions similar to thyroid hormone (T3). It promotes progesterone production that can also help to normalize the thyroid gland.
ProComp only recommends using quality chocolate made without additives, soy-lecithin or other emulsifiers. Soy-lecithin has been shown to be strongly estrogenic. Soy-lecithin can directly suppress metabolism and fat burning.
CREAM – An awesome source of calcium. Calcium is essential to reduce parathyroid stress hormone and also inflammation. It is important to ensure it has no additives. Calcium is also essential for efficient thyroid gland functioning.
HYDROSTATE GELATIN – My personal favourite source of protein. Protein with every meal helps to keep blood sugar levels even. Protein is necessary for both thyroid gland and liver functioning. Gelatin is extremely anti-inflammatory and helps promote the production of thyroid hormone by the thyroid gland.
Protein also helps play an important role in blood sugar regulation, it promotes natural sleep, reduces stress, protects your brain, reduces cellulite and helps with skin, hair and nails. Gelatin is a collagen protein.
