Coming from a traditional fitness background this approach challenged all I thought was true.  But the results speak for themselves.

You see it’s ALL about metabolism and hormonal balance.

The thyroid gland controls every system in the body - digestion, nervous system, circulation, reproduction, hormonal, repair, cognitive processes, sleep, and how we use energy (fat burning).

Pro-Metabolic foods increase thyroid health which not only increase fat burning but improves every part of how our body functions.

**Important notes**

- Balanced meals of carbs, proteins and fats are essential for blood sugar stabilisation
- The RIGHT carbs are needed for a high metabolic rate and thats why simple sugars are the solution for sustained energy, weight loss and thyroid health.
- Carbs should not be eaten alone. Always combine them with a fat and / or protein
- Saturated fats powerfully increase metabolism and are protective against the oxidation of PUFA’s
- Consume muscle meat with either bone broth or gelatin to offset the amino acid profile which is inflammatory, stress producing and anti-metabolic.
- Dairy is a complete food and a great source of calcium (for those who can tolerate it). Organic is best.

I remind myself of this often, those times when my I remind myself of this often, those times when my progress isn’t as great or when Im feeling the pressure to hit a deadline.  As long as we still facing the right direction, then all we need to do is take one step forward in that direction. Be that with  nutrition, metabolism, training, or your dreams. 

When it comes to healing your metabolism, for many it does take time, patience, rest, and a little self-love and acceptance along the way. 

Keep reminding yourself that health and happiness is more than just a lean body.

James Clear wrote in his book, Atomic Habits “the point is to master the habit of showing up” - I love that.  Thats it, do the thing that keeps you going in the right direction.  It doesn’t matter how big or small, it doesn’t matter how fast or slow you get there.  If you are facing the right direction - you’re on your way and you’ll get there. ✨

Having spent nearly 3 decades as a coach, athlete, researcher and therapist when it comes to losing weight, feeling great and being on top of your game -  I’ve learnt a thing or two about what works and what doesn’t.

Whilst I’ve had some amazing successes, I’ve also had some big time struggles.

I’ve won a Ms Universe then battled with metabolic damage.

I spent 15 years as a world champion athlete yet also struggled with rebound weight gain.

But I’ve been so blessed to live my passion, I’ve coached Pro-athletes, written books, found it hard, found it easy, and learnt such valuable lessons along the way.
